Test and QA experience – 26 years of software experience in QA, test, verification, metrics, process, and tool design within a wide variety of environments including military, aviation, PC, telecommunications and banking.  I have proven expertise in black box, white box, benchmarking, performance, stress and user testing.  I have a special interest in automation, process, and tools.  I have designed and written over 10,000 lines of code for automating product installation/configuration, test execution, analysis, and status reporting. 

Lead Experience – 15 years of proven experience leading teams of Test and QA professionals (1-23 individuals) involved in the testing aspect of all phases of software delivery from requirements to customer installation and maintenance.  Responsible for assigning work, mentoring junior personnel, tracking status, removing obstacles, reporting status upward and outward through organizations, and serving as the focal point for decisions and issues within the department.  I am effective and comfortable with maintaining relationships in and outside of Engineering and in representing the product and Test to the rest of the company

WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Senior Integration Tester - Boeing (Kent, WA) - 10/08-5/10

 

Worked in a group of integration testers on a military based project.  Analyzed requirements and use cases, wrote and executed tests, worked with developers to resolve bugs, managed access to labs, automated the start up process for our product via shell scripting and some perl hacking, established and recorded procedures on group wiki, mentored newer testers.

QA Lead - Boeing (Tukwilla, WA) - 12/07-5/08

 

Evaluated and advised on QA group reorganization for application group responsible for processing all technical information for new aircraft.  Worked with department manager as contract consultant to review and overhaul work processes between outsource and in-house staff to maximize value.  Advised plan to divide work along functional and data validation lines and provided tools, templates and processes to accomplish task to FAA requirements.  Brought in new contract personnel to round out team.

Established QA methods and procedures for group handling procurement, emergency, and other ticketing related processing throughout the bank.  Led a team of 4 contract QA/Testers with a particular focus on customer acceptance testing was required to turn around a negative attitude from the multifaceted customer base built on a long stretch of unsatisfactory service and delivery.  The project was cancelled for budgetary reasons, but our methods and approach had moved the team to a predictable release schedule and had started garnering acclaim from the customer base for expertise and service.

Responsible for establishing pilot program of a Managed Service QA model involving onshore and offshore presences from a single vendor for day-to-day QA and testing duties on a project basis.  Led a team of 2 on shore and 4-6 offshore testers for development, rollout and oversight of all processes, deliverables and status reporting.  The customer had experienced less than satisfactory performance from their previous QA partners so our focus was not only on reliable, proactive QA and test methodology but also on status reporting, customer involvement and insuring our solution adapted to the customer’s needs.  The pilot was successful and is being used as the model for future projects within the bank.

Responsible for heading a project to create proposals for a new Performance and Load test model to address specific internal issues along with advancing new business strategies in place at the bank.

Responsible for creating an exit strategy for projects involving offshore vendors supplying QA/Test services and expertise.

Principal Test Engineer/Manager of Engineering Test - Marconi, Bellevue, WA - 5/96-7/02

 

Led teams of 1-23 Test professionals on all projects for a complex, multi-tiered, multi-platform set of enterprise products responsible for the live delivery and analysis of cellular call data.  Since the products were designed to function in a 24/7, HA environment with peak transaction rates of to exceed 100K per minute, the development, release and support scenarios were demanding and often volatile.

Created and maintained tools for installation, configuration, execution, analysis, reporting and archiving test cases and suites, used by Development, Test, Training and Configuration Management.

Lead and Principle Tester for widely distributed data mediation product responsible for all call data records for major cellular carriers such as Sprint and Verizon.  Product applications were customized per customer according to OS, Hardware Platform, Oracle version, input data, and delivery format and functioned in an HA environment.
